About

Your Wellness Program
The State of Montana Healthy Employee Lifestyle Program's (SOMHELP) mission is to promote healthy lifestyle choices and improve the health, well being and quality of life of our employees, retirees and their families.

The SOMHELP provides many free and minimal cost benefits as part of the larger State of Montana Health Care Plan.  These benefits include health screenings, the Tobacco Cessation Program, an Employee Assistance Program, the Spring Fitness Program, Hunters Challenge, Lunch & Learn events and much more.  Health coaching, a weight loss program, the Take Control Diabetes Management Program, a prenatal health program and flu shot clinics are also offered.

This blog was created, as part of that mission, to help build a culture of wellness at the State of Montana by connecting employees interested in living well.  YOU are encouraged to post on this site.  Start a conversation today!

We Are What We Do
Health and wellness are intrinsic to the everyday choices that we make - the behaviors and activites that we choose (whether we realize it or not) to participate in and support.  Emphasizing the good in life will help all of us live longer, happier, healthier lives.

"It's about wanting what you have!  Good health sometimes is all about perspective.  Ever heard the story about the frog at the bottom of the well?  He thought the sky was one tiny circle until he came up to the top and looked over the edge."

We can all improve our quality of life by caring for our whole being, physically, mentally and spiritually.  Everyone should spend time each day exploring outside of themselves and doing more for others.

"The Power of One is above all the power to believe in yourself." - The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay

Take a moment and embrace where you are.  Now, let's move forward - together.
